If you click on the movie link below, you will see a video that starts out with a still image and the sound of my autopilot
working - listen to the different sounds. I then show video with the actuator moving with and then without the engine running
under sail.
Question: The "binding sound - do you think it is made
by the loose fit of teh actuator in its bracket ?
Question: Do you
think the binding sound is coming from inside the actuator ?

Note (1): Where the choice of two or more pumps are indicated the type, displacement and steering characteristics
of the vessel should be considered. By choosing the larger pump with an increased flow rate a faster hardover time can be
achieved, which on some vessels will result in improved Autopilot helm response and course keeping.

I replaced an autopilot I loved and it provided years of superb
service. It was a Robertson AP 2500. After several years, parts were
no longer available for this old autopilot. I began searching and
found Simrad, though a variety of transactions, bought Robertson. I
now own a AP16 with a rate gyro compass option and my love affair has
begun anew. This pilot works wonderfully and is paired with my Garmin
GPS 182C Chartplotter. They make a fine combination. I understand
all the autopilots manufactures voted this pilot the best of the all.
At least this is what I was told during my searching.
